JdF Preparations

• Wand design continues.  Doug has ideas for a simple wand/heat exchanger.  Will talk to pilots about their wishes.
• Scott discovered that failed encoder in HPP seems to be from vibration breaking wires potted in soft silicon.  He's ordered 3 more encoders, and we are have a brace made that will hopefully minimize shaking of the encoder.  Doug suggested doing some math on maximum accelerations might explain wires breaking.  Could be oil degrading silicon.  Still investigating. 
• New torque nuts  (SuperNuts) have arrived. 

 Adaptive Sampling and M0 Deployment  (MOE)

• MOE deploys in one week.  Arrays and PCR looking beautiful, but implementing adaptive sampling causing difficulties.
• Porting Yanwu's code from Matlab to Ruby more involved than initially thought.  This adaptive sampling code will not make it on this deployment.
• Revert to simple event detection (triggering on nitrate).  First iteration of this code caused major Ruby crashes.  This code has been changed and is being tested right now.  We must make it through 3 runs to give it stamp of approval.  We will know by noon if we continue with this code or revert back to old ESP code without event triggering.  Much thanks to Chris P and Brent for hammering on this....
• 'air-battery' containers are at bottom of test tank.  Paul C. working on mounting.  They should be ready. 

WHOI Deployment

•  Still haven't pulled connector off 3rd E/M cable;  one bolt is stuck.  If it breaks, cone is ruined.  Roman working this.
• Shipping option has been selected.  Temp controlled truck arrives for loading April 1.  Will arrive at WHOI April 7 or 8 into Roman's waiting hands (he fly's out the 6th).  This shipping option costing ~$7K.  We will need a place to store our totes at WHOI (no van is being left behind).
• Doug ordered cushioning material for ESP can.  Will get Greg Voogd to help build a 'floor' that will sit in palletainer.
• Roman has sent out paperwork for He leak detector rental ($700/week).  They will ship it to WHOI; we'll have for 3 weeks.  WHOI has He and N2 and regulators.
• Deployment plan:
  • Leave WHOI as early as possible Tuesday, April 19.  Arrive at NH Science center dock that evening.  Sleep on boat.  Early AM, April 20, divers arrive, get on boat.  Motor to site and deploy.  Do some water casts around ESP while we make sure it's working.  Return divers to dock and continue water sampling transect.  Begin return to WHOI early

G3 Development

• Spoke with Jim Bellingham about a 2foot section on front of LRAUV.  He suggests we do a quick remodel with his fluid dynamics guy.  Email introduction has been made.  He has also thought of the possibility of scaling the AUV to be bigger....sigh.

Drifter

• Design review today at 1pm.  Brent leads discussion of communications and networkability. 
• Our Satellite Phone account has been set up yet we have not rec'd any bills for the monthly fee.  Brent to send contact info to Jim to deal with this.
